Gazzetta: 5 Signings to overhaul the AC Milan starting XI

The AC Milan starting XI is expected to change a lot next season. With Loftus-Cheek done, the Rossoneri are working on four more transfers.

“Milan sheds its skin”, is the big headline of La Gazzetta dello Sport‘s front page. So far AC Milan have signed Marco Sportiello and Ruben Loftus-Cheek while the young Noah Raveyre will join the Primavera squad. Now Furlani and Moncada are working to complete more transfers with four players having already said yes to AC Milan.

Yunus Musah is the player closer to joining AC Milan. The 20-year-old American midfielder has accepted Milan’s offer of a five-year contract at around €2 million per season. Talks between the two clubs have entered a crucial phase. According to recent reports Valencia have lowered their asking price to €25 million. The Spanish club are forced to sell some key players this summer. Both parties are optimistic and chances are pretty high that Musah may be at Milanello when the 8th of July team gathering starts.

However, even with Loftus-Cheek and probably Musah, AC Milan still need to sign one more midfielder. Tonali has left, Bennacer will return to play next year and Pioli seems oriented to try a three-man midfield for next season. The Rossoneri don’t look as serious contenders for Davide Frattesi as of now. Instead they have shifted their focus on Tijjani Reijnders whom AZ Alkmaar rate €20 million. The Dutch midfielder has agreed personal terms on a contract of €1.8 million per annum.

The fans expect big news on the right wing. Both Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers could leave to make room for Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic. Personal terms are not an issue with both players but negotiating with their respective clubs has been a very difficult job so far.

Samuel Chukwueze is Moncada’s big dream for the right wing. The AC Milan head scout is pushing for his arrival. Moncada is confident that the 24-year-old Nigerian star could bring the explosiveness of Rafael Leao on the right wing. Villarreal has so far have stayed firm on their €30 million evaluation of Chukwueze. However, Milan have no intention to pay such a high fee for a player that they can sign on a free transfer next year.

Similar situation for Pulisic. Chelsea have not moved an inch from their initial price of 25 million for Pulisic. The USA international can play on both wings as well as in the attacking midfielder role. Talks continue between the two clubs with AC Milan working to bring the total fee under 20 million. Pulisic is also pushing for a quick resolition.
